State Review Board
The State Review Board is comprised of individuals with expertise in historic preservation, architecture, historic architecture, archeology, planning, and history. The majority of members, who must meet professional standards, are all appointed by the State Historic Preservation Officer (SHPO).
The Board reviews and approves National Register of Historic Places nominations to determine if the nominations meet the criteria for evaluation. The Review Board also serves as an advisory group to the SHPO, assists our office with statewide preservation efforts, and reviews the State Historic Preservation Plan.
The Review Board meets three times annually, generally lasting two days, with all meetings open to the public. Typically, two of the meetings are held at the location of a nominated property, while the third is in Cheyenne. At each meeting one day is often spent touring and evaluating a historic property and the other reviewing the nominations and conducting Board business.
